Council-regulated fares

Tariffs & Fares

Hereford taxi fares are set by Herefordshire Council and charged by meter. Here's a clear breakdown of when each tariff applies — including our promise to switch to the standard daytime rate from 5am.

Night tariff
11pm – 5am

The higher night rate set by Herefordshire Council (Tariff Two — 150% of the standard daytime rate). Applies on the meter for any journey starting in this window.

  • Council Tariff Two — 150% of daytime rate
  • Charged on the meter, no surprises
  • Same fair driver, day or night
Our early daytime rate
5am – 8am

Although the council's night tariff officially runs until 8am, Hereford Rank Taxis chooses to switch to the standard daytime tariff from 5am — supporting early-shift workers across the city.

  • Lower daytime rate three hours early
  • Fairer fares for factory, hospital and care staff
  • Supporting Hereford workers since 1991
